SATURDAY 11TH DECEMBER 2021 SAW THE EPIC LAUNCH OF OUR BESPOKE PARTY PLANNING SERVICE

DAY OF THE DEAD – 11/12/21

We’re super-excited to announce that Saturday 11^th December 2021 saw the launch of Sugar & Rind’s bespoke party planning service.  Back in September our lovely client came to us with a grand vision.  A birthday party for his beloved wife’s 40^th birthday party.  He wanted a theme and above all he wanted it to be a BIG surprise.

So we batted around some ideas starting with Halloween and Game of Thrones and after sharing some images of our themed bars and back-drops, we settled on Day of the Dead – hooray!  There’s nothing more vibrant and colourful to work with than Dia de los Muertos and we were EXCITED.

EVENT VENUE

First up to find the right venue.  At the time we were collating our Event Venue Page so Kachette in Shoreditch was top of mind.  We needed a blank canvas, so we showed the client a few pix of what used to be Shoreditch Railway station back in the early 1900’s.  It’s is now a really vibey event venue and the client was sold on the lovely bricked arches with a fab space for the sit-down dinner and another smaller arch for the bar and the dance area.  So what next?

BESPOKE LIGHTING, COSTUMES, HAIR AND MAKE-UP

Bespoke lighting was a must so we turned to our trusted and talented team and boy oh boy – they didn’t disappoint.  Lighting, costumes, hair, and make-up needed to work hand in hand so we put our teams together and the creative process was a fun one.  It culminated in a meeting where we presented our collective ideas to the client.  Thankfully this resulted in him saying yes to pretty much everything, including surprise and bespoke outfits for him and the wife!  He then got VERY excited about what was to come as did we…..

ENTERTAINMENT

We started the night with our Mexican play-list but the client wanted an epic party band.  The brief was 80’s / 90’s classics so we reckoned we couldn’t fail to please with our go-to groovers, The Earth Lights on board.  Having witnessed The Earth Lights at several gigs, we knew that they literally overflowed with charisma and joyfulness.  Just look how gorgeous they are in their costumes and their make-up.  To be honest, we blew ourselves away with how they looked, never mind their actual performance on the night which was similarly epic!

BAR SERVICE

Sugar & Rind prides itself on its cocktails and a flair bartending service that’s second to none.  So for this one, we chose a black chesterfield fascia as the base and paired it with Day of the Dead-themed backboards adorned with skulls and roses.  We then back-lit everything in the bar area to bring it alive.  Coupled with the light projections on the wall behind the bartenders, it looked an absolute picture.  Add in our Leading Lady cocktails and our super-talented bartenders in full costume and the result was total amazement and delight amongst the guests.

FOOD

Themed food was the brief so it was a great opportunity for our incredibly talented caterers to get creative.  Blood-red ceviche to start, grave-stone biscuits for dessert – we’ll let the photos do the talking….
